A meeting in Sana'a today, headed by Minister of Transport Amer Al-Marani, discussed the mechanism of implementing the pivot weight law to preserve the main road network and between cities from overloads.
The meeting, which was attended by the head of the Roads Maintenance Fund, Eng. Nabil Al-Haifi, reviewed the damage caused to roads as a result of excessive loads of heavy trucks and the resulting losses.
The Minister of Transport stressed the importance of activating the axial weighing stations on the main roads, to preserve the road and bridge network, pointing out the importance of maintaining roads as a lifeline and linked to various service and humanitarian aspects.
He pointed to the great losses incurred by the state in the restoration of roads annually as a result of their deterioration due to neglect of the axial weighing stations and the raids of the aggression and others.
The Minister of Transport stressed the need for coordination between the authorities related to the application of the axial weight law to overcome the problem of road wear and tear due to excessive loads.
For his part, the head of the Roads Maintenance Fund indicated that the continuation of excessive loads portends catastrophic risks to the road network.
